This past weekend, my fiance and I decided to go Snorkeling on Sunday at La Jolla Shores just north of San Diego. We decided to jump in the water and see if the Leopard Sharks were in town yet. Don't worry they don't bite or bother swimmer!
Every year in La Jolla the Leopard Sharks come in to have baby leopard sharks, and it's amazing to be able to jump in the water and see these beautiful sharks in person and not in an aquarium behind the glass. All you need is some snorkel gear and you are good to go! To read more about the Leopard Sharks when to best see hem, check out this article here.
On this particular trip to La Jolla Shores, we didn't get to see many Leopard Sharks but we were treated to the amazing beauty of an awesome Sea Turtle!
The best place to depart from is near the Marine Room In La Jolla Shores. The Marine Room is a restaurant in La Jolla Shores and there is a small beach in front where you can drop your towels while you go snorkeling. Just north of the Marine Room is a hotel and the beach is private, so if you stop there the hotel lifeguards will bother you and make you move.
If you are leaving your gear in front of the Marine Room be careful about tides, the tide can rise up and gobble up the entire beach. We got lucky on this trip because some kind people moved all our gear for us so the tide didn't wash it away. Thank you, strangers!
Lastly, parking can be a pain over there, so just be patient or be willing to walk!
The satellite image below from Google maps shows the Marine Room, and beach. The blue circle I drew over the map is roughly where we went snorkeling and spotted the amazing Sea Turtle!
